Brandon Kennedy's place

Kennedys is the barbershop Brandon Kennedy built — a young barber from Redcar who took on an empty unit on 37 Vicarage Drive, renovated it top to bottom and turned it into Marske-by-the-Sea's one-stop shop for hair.

Our story

Brandon spent years renting a chair in someone else's shop before deciding he wanted more. At 24 he found a former tanning salon on Vicarage Drive that had stood empty for a year, messaged the landlord, and set about turning it into what the Teesside Gazette called a "super salon" — barbering, hairdressing and beauty under one roof.

It paid off. Within weeks of opening, the five-star reviews were rolling in — and they haven't stopped: Kennedys is rated 5.0 from more than 140 reviews on Booksy. In the chairs you'll find Brandon and Ashton, with a junior barber taking walk-ins at reduced prices.

Away from the shop, we're proud to put something back into the local game as sponsors of Redcar Athletic FC.
